I'm curious as to what others think of it so I saved it a spot at the end of the list. The 25th is a new naval title coming out from Avalanche Press that I find fascinating and I'm vacillating on picking it up. You'll also notice that I said top 24 games and I list 25 here. Thus a good number of games, some highly rated like General Quarters, Second World War at Sea: Midway and The Royal Navy, didn't get included because they didn't have enough ratings. Keep in mind I used the much dreaded 30 BGG ratings to qualify rule for being listed on the list. With hundreds of famous historical warships, excellent graphic, real artillery effect and rich game. You could do a whole geeklist on PTO games and in fact I did not to long ago so we got that covered if anyone want to look back at that one. Warship Wars is a next-generation 3D naval battle game. I did this because while they have a lot of naval stuff in them they are more strategic level Pacific Theater games rather than strictly naval. I have excluded some games such as Empire of the Sun and Fire in the Sky that some may argue belong on the list. Be they hex and counter, card game or whatever. You are the commanding officer of a powerful fleet and must lead your battleships in a battle against another.
This list features the top 24 naval wargames on BGG. Battleship is a naval strategy battle game. Be they hex and counter, card game or whatever. So I decided to take a closer look at the naval wargames that the folks here at BGG rated the highest.

#Naval battleships games series
My Tuesday night historical miniatures game group is currently running a WW II North Atlantic campaign I'm participating in and I've been growing more and more interested in the two Avalanche Press naval series Great War at Sea and Second World War at Sea.
As you can imagine I've always had a thing for civil war ironclads but now for some reason I'm getting into the big 20th Century battleships. The 5 ships are: Carrier (occupies 5 spaces), Battleship (4), Cruiser (3), Submarine (3), and Destroyer (2). Not sure why, but I'm on a naval warfare kick as of late.
